Chapman Law School alumni T. Gabe Houston and Robbie Godinez Munoz have secured a landmark $161 million verdict in a civil case against a major motorcycle manufacturer. The verdict, consisting of $11 million compensatory and $150 million punitive damages, is the culmination of a lengthy legal battle and highlights the dedication and passion of these Chapman graduates. Munoz, whose path to law was shaped by a devastating boxing injury, found his calling through working on medical malpractice cases. Houston, an experienced litigator, recognized Munoz’s potential and introduced him to Chapman Law. The duo joined forces on the Soulliere v. Suzuki Motor Corp. case after it was remanded for a new trial, and with the help of attorney Travis Davis, they presented a compelling case that highlighted the human impact on the plaintiff’s life. Their teamwork, guided by unconventional trial techniques and a sense of justice, led to this remarkable outcome and brought relief to the plaintiff, Joey Soulliere. The success of this trial showcases the support and sense of community within the Chapman family and the dedication of Chapman alumni to the pursuit of justice.
